Attempts are being made to buy MLAs to oust JMM from power: Hemant Soren

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday attacked the opposition BJP, alleging that it was trying to buy its MLAs to topple the JMM government in the state. However, Soren did not name the BJP. Addressing a public meeting at Dobo in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, the Chief Minister said, “They have formed governments with money power and are now trying to destabilize our popular government. We have to teach them a lesson.”

Soren inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 555.83 crore in East and West Singhbhum districts and distributed assets worth Rs 472.16 crore in the “Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar” program. Taking a dig at the BJP, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president said, “They could not digest our good work, they do not want the elderly to get pension, women to be empowered, farmers to prosper and girls to be educated.”

‘The rich and the capitalists are plundering the minerals of Jharkhand’

Soren said he was touring the state to find out whether the welfare schemes launched by his government were implemented properly or not. The chief minister alleged, “Jharkhand is called the golden bird because it has abundant mineral wealth, but the people here are the most backward. The golden bird belongs to the rich and capitalists, who are looting the minerals of the state.”

‘When we are not afraid of guns and bullets then why should we be afraid of jail’

The chief minister claimed that when his government had made a fair demand of Rs 1.36 lakh crore as royalty on minerals, he was implicated in false cases and sent to jail. Hemant Soren was released on bail on June 28 after spending nearly five months in jail in a money laundering case related to a land scam. Soren said, “Jharkhand is the land of heroes, when we are not afraid of guns and bullets, why should we be afraid of jail.”
