SFI impersonation: Kerala University Syndicate removes principal

Kerala University Syndicate on Saturday removed Dr GJ Shyju from the post of principal of Christian College, Kattakada. The decision came after he was alleged to have been involved in impersonation of a student representative to the university union election. The syndicate has also decided to file a police complaint against Shyju and A Vyshak, the SFI student leader, whose name was suggested instead of an elected candidate.

In the list of University Union councillors (UUC) to the Kerala University, the Christian College had replaced the name of Anagha, the elected UUC, with Vyshak, who was the SFI Kattakkada area secretary. Following the controversy, Kerala University has postponed the university union election. It has also asked all colleges to file a report regarding the elections.

Kerala University vice chancellor in charge Mohan Kunnummal said that the management of Christian College was asked to suspend Shyju. The recognition of the college will be suspended if they fail to take proper action, he said.

CPI(M) and SFI took disciplinary action against Vyshak after the incident became a controversy.
