After the much-awaited release of Megastar Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Vettaiyaan’, acclaimed director TJ Gnanavel is all set to bring yet another cinematic magnum opus with Junglee Pictures’ Dosa King on October 10. Known for helming favourites like Badhaai Do and Raazi, Junglee Pictures has teamed up with Gnanavel to bring this epic tale to the big screen.
Written by TJ Gnanavel and Hemanth Rao, the pan-India film is inspired by the epic clash between Jeevajothi and P. Rajagopal, which sets the stage for a battle for ambition, power and justice. Junglee Pictures has acquired the life rights of Jeevajothi Santhakumar for an exclusive and detailed on-screen portrayal of this story.
Packed with high drama and entertainment, the film will be made on a grand scale and promises to be a cinematic experience. Dosa King is inspired by the shocking crimes of a famous restaurant owner, popularly known as the ‘Dosa King’, who received a landmark conviction after an 18-year-long legal battle in P. Rajagopal vs State of Tamil Nadu.
Helmed by Gnanavel, known for its interesting narrative and memorable characters, the film is inspired by a thrilling case that had a worldwide following. The fictional drama traces the events that led to the rise and fall of the legendary and globally renowned empire of Saravana Bhavan built by P Rajagopal and follows the fearless Jeevajothi who stands up to the powerful tycoon. Dosa King is set to enthrall audiences from all over.
Hemanth Rao, best known for his acclaimed and iconic Kannada film “Godhi Banna Sadharan Manushya”, has also written and directed films like “Kavaludaari” and “Sapta Sagaradaache Elo – Side A/Side B”, which have been well received by audiences. He also co-wrote “Andhadhun”, which was highly acclaimed in Hindi cinema, and is now co-writing “Dosa King” with Gnanavel. T.J. Gnanavel, best known for his critically acclaimed Tamil film “Jai Bhim”, which he wrote and directed, has also delivered notable films like “Payanam” and “Koothathil Oruthan”. Gnanavel’s sharp perspective, backed by years of experience as a journalist, makes him perfectly suited to direct this complex and emotionally powerful narrative.
