After the meeting with junior doctors was cancelled, Mamata Banerjee said- ‘I do not crave for a post, I am ready to resign’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she has no desire for a post. She is ready to resign for the people. Mamata Banerjee arrived to meet the protesting junior doctors on Thursday evening. During this, the doctors were adamant on the demand for live streaming of the meeting, but this was not possible as the matter was in the Supreme Court. In such a situation, the junior doctors did not come to meet Mamata. After this meeting failed, Mamata Banerjee has talked about her resignation. She said that she wants justice for the murder of the doctor of RG Kar Medical College.

"We hoped that the children would come and tell their pain and join the work. Apologizing to the people of Bengal, we hoped that the problem would be solved today. I tried my best to talk to the junior doctors. I waited for 3 days with my higher officials. The RG tax case is pending in the court, so the meeting with the junior doctors cannot be telecast live as demanded by them. We had a video recording of the meeting with the junior doctors, we could share it with them with the permission of the Supreme Court. We waited for the junior doctors for two hours, but they did not come."

27 people died due to doctors’ strike

Today our main topic was development, safety and security. Today we could have discussed with an open mind. Then we could have given a press conference later. We had said in the letter that 15 people would come, but I also welcome the arrival of 34 junior doctors. From the health department, there were only me and Chandrima Bhattacharya. 27 people have died! Seven lakh people could not be treated. Resident doctors and junior doctors are not working.

What is the matter?

A trainee doctor was raped and murdered during the night shift at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. Since this incident, doctors have been protesting for their safety. Doctors have many demands. There have been nationwide protests regarding this and the case is being heard in the Supreme Court. However, doctors of West Bengal are still protesting. Due to the doctors’ protest, people are not getting timely treatment. Many people have also died due to this. With the aim of ending this strike, Mamata Banerjee had come to meet the junior doctors, but the doctors did not attend the meeting.
