पंचम दा उर्फ आरडी बर्मन का जन्म 27 जून 1939 को कोलकाता में हुआ था। करीब तीन दशक तक हिंदी सिनेमा पर राज करने वाले पंचम दा ने 300 से ज्यादा फिल्मों में अपना संगीत दिया। उनके पिता सचिन देव बर्मन भी बॉलीवुड के महान संगीतकारों में से एक थे। उन्हें बचपन से ही अपने पिता को देखकर संगीत से प्यार हो गया था। आरडी बर्मन ने अपना पहला गाना ऐ मेरी टोपी पलट के आ तब रचा था जब वह महज 9 साल के थे।
