NEET-UG Paper Leak: CBI raids 7 places in Gujarat, three arrested

NEET-UG Paper Leak: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided seven places in four districts of Gujarat in the NEET-UG paper leak case. According to officials, the raids were conducted on the premises of suspects in Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad and Godhra districts on Saturday. The CBI on Friday arrested the principal, vice principal and a journalist of OASIS School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand in connection with the case.

Oasis School principal Ehsanul Haque was made Hazaribagh’s city coordinator for the NEET-UG exam held by the National Examination Agency (NTA) on May 5. Vice principal Imtiyaz Alam was appointed NTA’s supervisor and Oasis School’s centre coordinator.

Three arrested in the case, investigation underway

Officials said journalist Jamaluddin Ansari has been arrested for helping the principal and vice principal. The CBI has questioned five more people from the district in the case.

6 FIRs registered

The CBI has registered six FIRs in the NEET-UG paper leak case. More than 23 lakh candidates appeared in the NEET-UG exam held on May 5 this year. The exam was conducted at 4,750 centers in 571 cities across the country.

Political uproar

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not want to discuss the matter related to alleged irregularities in NEET-UG. Rahul Gandhi raised this issue in the House and demanded a discussion on it apart from the President’s address. However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the motion of thanks is discussed after the President’s address and there is no tradition of discussing any other topic.

Opposition to the opposition

Congress claimed that when Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was speaking on the issue of NEET, his mike was switched off. Due to this, after one adjournment, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 11 am on Monday.

The constituent parties of the opposition coalition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) met on Thursday and decided that they will raise this issue in both the houses of Parliament on Friday. The opposition demanded a respectful discussion on this important issue related to the youth and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in it.
