Born in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, Shantanu Mukherjee belongs to a Bengali family. Shaan has inherited music. His grandfather Jahar Mukherjee was a famous lyricist. His father Manas Mukherjee was a music director. Throughout his career so far, Shaan has won the hearts of music lovers by singing songs in many languages ​​including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu, Telugu, Kannada, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi and Malayalam.

Shaan’s sister Sagarika is a singer. Due to the musical environment in the house right from the beginning, Shaan was inclined towards music since childhood. He started singing at the age of just 4 years. Initially Shaan used to sing jingles for advertisements. He started his career in Bollywood at the age of 17.
