Jammu Kashmir: Kashmiri Muslims have set a unique example of Hindu-Muslim unity and helped in the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit. The last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit, fondly called Kaka, were performed at his native place with the help of local Muslims. During this time, Kashmiri Muslims arranged wood for the cremation and provided shoulder to them. The last rites of the Kashmiri Pandit were performed at his native place in Tulmulla area of Ganderbal district.
What is the whole matter?
Displaying the age-old communal harmony in Kashmir, Muslim residents of Tulmulla village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district helped perform the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit who died on Saturday. Bansi Lal, 65, was one of the few families whose community lives in the area. Relatives of the Kashmiri Pandit said that brotherhood is still intact in the region.
The relative of the deceased thanked the Muslims of the area and civil society Tulamullah and said that Kashmir is the best example of communal harmony, brotherhood and Pandits and Muslims share a great and strong bond which has been here for decades.
Local people said, he has been living here among us since his birth. We have been with each other and done everything together, he was one of us. We never considered him a Kashmiri Pandit. Another local said, the deceased was a great man who used to visit Muslims on the occasion of festivals and whenever someone in the Muslim community passed away. He was and still is an integral part of the entire culture. It is our duty to return the favor by ensuring his last rites as per his religious rites.
