Award winning filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, known for films like ‘Masoom’, ‘Mr India’ and ‘Bandit Queen’, is once again in the headlines. Shekhar Kapur recently visited NYU Abu Dhabi Water Research Center, with which he has once again increased the speculation among fans about working on his 10-year-long project ‘Paani’. In 2013, Shekhar Kapur started work on this project, in which late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was to be seen in the lead role. But, due to some reasons this project was stopped a few years ago. It is said that Sushant was devastated by the closure of this project.

Will work on ‘water’ start again?

But, now the new pictures of Shekhar Kapoor on social media have increased the speculation among the fans about working on ‘Paani’ again. Kapoor, known for his BAFTA and Golden Globe achievements, expressed curiosity for innovative solutions in water conservation. Meanwhile, the research center expressed excitement for a collaboration that blends storytelling and science. Some pictures of Kapoor from the research center have surfaced on the internet, which has left fans speculating whether Kapoor is keen to work on his dream project ‘Paani’, which was shelved a few years ago.

‘Paani’ is about many relationships along with a love story

Earlier, the renowned director had opened up about his ambitious project. Calling it a “dramatic script” with a “spiritual tale”, Kapoor had said that the story of ‘Paani’ is “about multiple relationships with a love story”. He added how water is the “key” to the film’s story. Interestingly, the film was supposed to star Sushant Singh Rajput. However, as of now, there has been no official update on the project.

Meanwhile, Kapoor is preparing for the sequel of his 1983 film ‘Masoom’, titled ‘Masoom…The Next Generation’. This film, which will explore the concept of ‘home’ in today’s society.
