G20 summit 2023: PM Modi, UK PM Rishi Sunak and other world leaders pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat
New Delhi: On Sunday, the second day of the G20 summit, PM Modi among with G20 world leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat amidst drizzle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the world leaders at Rajghat by giving them a gift of Khadi.
After this, the leaders will plant trees at Rajghat and leave for the third session of the G20 summit ‘One Future’ at the Bharat Mandapam. In the scenes at Rajghat, the venue was shown decorated with colorful flowers as soon as the leaders reached there. In view of the G20 summit, security has also been beefed up in some parts of the national capital .Necessary arrangements were also made so as to keep the traffic smooth.
Economy Minister of the United Mexican States, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President of the Union of Comoros and Chairman of the African Union (AU),Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak, Azali Assoumani, Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President of Spain Nadia Calvino, Raquel Buenrostro Sanchez paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and also paid floral tributes.
The theme of this year’s G20 summit, which is being chaired by India, is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth One Family One Future”. It is noteworthy that India assumed the presidency of G20 on 1 December last year. Delhi Traffic Police tweeted, “Traffic Alert: Controlled Zone 2 has been implemented and consequently buses will not operate on Ring Road between ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Sarai Kale Khan. Buses will operate on the remaining stretch of Ring Road and the road network beyond Ring Road towards the borders of Delhi.”
